I'm Niels — a photographer based between Hannover and the Bonn/Rheinbach area in Germany, though my camera has taken me considerably further afield. Photography has been a constant since childhood, long before it became anything more than curiosity. What started as pointing a camera at whatever caught my eye has grown into a genuine practice — one built around people, places, and the moments that don't repeat themselves. My most recent series took me across Tanzania — the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater — chasing light and stillness in landscapes that don't wait for a second take.
Behind the camera
I shoot primarily on a Fujifilm GFX100 II for editorial and portrait work, with an X100VI for anything that calls for discretion or a lighter setup. For analog work, I still reach for a Bronica SQAi loaded with Kodak Portra — there's a patience that film demands that digital never quite replicates.
The cameras
Outside of photography, I work as a physician. Two very different ways of paying attention to people.
